The home herd, Northern AZ sunshine
Why our pork tastes different
Hogs raised the way God intended.
Most commercial pork never sees daylight. Ours live in open-air pens under the Northern AZ sun — kept clean, fed a locally mixed organic ration from start to finish. No confinement. No shortcuts. No compromises. Just pigs raised right.
- Yorkshire × Hampshire cross. Raised on locally mixed organic feed in open-air pens under the Northern AZ sunshine at Sunset Farms, Centennial Park, AZ.
- Locally mixed organic feed ration. Never commercial pellets or confinement programs.
- No hormones. No routine antibiotics. Sick animals are pulled and treated; they never reenter the food line.
- Canaan Mountain Meats. Artisan custom processor. Every cut vacuum-sealed, frozen, and labeled to your written spec.
About our bacon
Most bacon is pumped with brine and run through a smokehouse in hours. Ours isn't. We cure every belly by hand with a custom brown sugar blend — organic pure cane sugar and organic blackstrap molasses — that builds a deep, rich sweetness from the inside out. Then we slow-smoke over hardwood hickory until it's done right. No liquid smoke. No compromises. This is craft bacon — developed here, cured here, smoked here. You won't find it anywhere else.
